Joshua's 'Baby Story' cont....

JOSHUA IS 3 WEEKS OLD TODAY!!!
WE CAN HOLD HIM NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! I POSTED NEW PICS IN HIS ALBUM, CHECK THEM OUT- HE GETS MORE PRECIOUS EVERY TIME WE SEE HIM!!!!
THE LUNG SPECIALIST TOLD ME LAST NIGHT THAT JOSHUA IS DOING SO WELL, THEN THIS MORNING WHEN WE WENT UP THERE HE WAS OFF THE CPAP! PTL!!!!!! THE SURGEONS & DR.'S ARE SO IMPRESSED WITH JOSHUA'S PROGRESS AND THINK HE WILL BE OUT BEFORE THANKSGIVING WITH NO TUBES, MONITORS, NOTHING!!!!! PTL!!!!!
HE HAS LOST A LITTLE BIT OF WEIGHT BUT NOT MUCH, AND THEY HAVEN'T STARTED FEEDING HIM YET (THEY WILL START THE FEEDING TUBE ON FRIDAY THIS WEEK)!! HOPEFULLY HE WILL HANDLE THAT AND THEN THEY CAN MOVE TO THE BOTTLE EARLY NEXT WEEK!!!!!
WE MET WITH THE ATTORNEY'S TODAY AND ALL WE CAN SAY RIGHT NOW IS THINGS WILL BE DONE BEFORE JOSHUA GOES HOME WITH US!!!!!!!!! IN THIS CASE WITH IT BEING A PRIVATE ADOPTION IT USUALLY GOES PRETTY FAST AND IS ALL UP TO HOW FAST MICHAEL AND I CAN GET ALL OF OUR "TO DO'S" DONE, AND I AM HAPPY TO SAY THAT WE WILL HAVE COMPLETED EVERYTHING BY MONDAY!!!!! WHICH MEANS, ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS TYPE EVERYTHING UP AND TAKE IT TO COURT NEXT WEEK SOMETIME!!!!!! THEY SAID THAT EVERYTHING SHOULD BE LEAGAL BY THE 11TH!!!! PTL!!!!!!!!
OUR PRAYERS RIGHT NOW ARE THAT JOSHUA'S INTESTINES WILL BE ABLE TO HANDLE THE THE FLUIDS(THEY WANT HIM TO BE ABLE TO SWALLOW, BREATH AND SUCK ALL AT THE SAME TIME BEFORE HE CAN GO HOME)- AND THAT HIS INTESTINES WON'T LEAK OR HAVE ANY BLOCKAGE!
OF COURSE, IF YOU WOULD STILL KEEP THE WHOLE LEGAL STUFF IN YOUR PRAYERS THAT IS HELPING FOR SURE!!!!!
WE SO APPRECIATE ALL OF THE SUPPORT WE HAVE RECEIVED!! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SAID A PRAYER, GIVEN AN ENCOURAGING WORD, AND LISTENED WHEN WE NEEDED YOU TO :) ESPECIALLY, THE ONE'S THAT WENT WAY ABOVE AND BEYOND AND BLESSED MICHAEL AND WITH "HUGE FINANCIAL GIFTS!"- THAT BLESSED US SO MUCH, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN APART OF THIS PROCESS!!! YOU GUYS HAVE MEANT THE WORLD TO MICHAEL, GAVYN, JOSHUA AND I!!!!!! WE AS A FAMILY ARE SO BLESSED TO HAVE ALL OF YOU IN OUR LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!! AND PRAY THAT THE LORD BLESSES YALL IN RETURN FOR THE LOVE YOU HAVE SHOWN OUR FAMILY!!!!!!!!!!!

Joshua's 'Baby Story' Cont....

Update on Baby Joshua- 10/26
I just wanted to up date you on Joshua… He is doing amazingly well after his surgery last Saturday. The doctors say he has exceeded their expectations in how well he is doing. I told him that Joshua has hundreds of prayers going up for him and the doctors – he said "that is just what we need" (Dr. Vaughn is a Christian – don't know about the other 2 but think they are too).
Joshua is off the respirator and his pain meds and is doing great. He is on a "bubble" pump (big head gear for tubes in his nose) which is to keep his lungs open and the alveoli open because he can't move around much. He has a drain tube down his throat from his mouth to his stomach and a couple of IVs – one for nutrition and one in his chest to do all the blood work etc. so they don't have to stick him all the time. Then he has a couple of monitors – heart and temperature I think - and a couple of other drains in his lower abdomen. He looks like he is in a little cocoon of tubes, wires, and wraps… we can't hold him so we just pet him and hold his little hand (he grabs it back) and talk and sing to him. He was a bit more active yesterday and opened his eyes a little and cried a tiny bit when the nurse turned him over . Michael was with him and got to hold a pacifier in his mouth. I couldn't go yesterday because I woke up with a cold; please pray I get over this cold so I can go see him soon! We did get the Chromosones Test back today and he is completely perfect!!
NO SYNDRONES!!! Praise The Lord!!!!!!!!

The plan now is to wait – letting his little intestines heal before they try the feeding tube to see if it all works – with no leaks and no blockages. Dr. Vaughn will assess the situation and all his "signs" to see if he is ready for this on Nov. 2 – then if everything looks good (no leaks) they will try the feeding tube. Here is your BIG prayer: that the healing is complete and good and that there will be no leaks or blockages and that he absorbs his food and not just eliminate it. Wow – our bodies are amazing – it's the most complicated thing in the universe – God is just too amazing to grasp. I just pray that HE will make it all work like he meant it to in the first place – no one else can do this but Him!

The adoption is in the works… hopefully (and prayerfully) it will all be finalized before Joshua can go home. He will be in the NICU at least another month the doctor is saying… Please pray for all the adoption red tape (it will take about 35 days). We meet with the attorneys to sign all the paper work next week, and then our homesteady is next week also.
Michael and I met with the grand parents & their other daughter on Thurs. night and we spent 4 hours visiting with them. They are wonderful and we feel as though Michael, Gavyn, & I are all three blessed with another family! We all get along so well you would think we have known each other for years! God is so faithfull in this whole process, we are shocked how everything is coming together SO EASY!!!
Thank you for you tireless and faithful prayers for this little one and for all of us – we are blessed over and over again by all of you.
With love ,
Michael, Selah, & Gavyn

P.S. we came up with a middle name finally... we decided since Joshua's 1st name is my older brother's name we thought we would give him a name from Michael's side too, so we went with Michael's older brother, Ryan- means little King!
Joshua Ryan Thalken-
We think this is cool because even though Gavyn will carry on the Thalken blood, Joshua will carry on the Family name's- he is just as much apart of our family and a son to us as Gavyn is! We never thought it would be this easy to fall so in love with a baby you didn't carry for 9 months, but we have and it is such an amazing love- now we understand better the adoption love that Jesus has for his adopted children!!! Such a Beautiful, un-describable feeling!!!!! This whole thing has brought us closer to the Father~ It is amazing!!!!!!!!!

Joshua's 'Baby Story'... The Beginning of a Long Journey.....

.......Michael and I are new parents of a precious baby boy named Joshua!!!!!
He was born on Oct. 10th- just 5 short days after Michael and I started praying about the adoption. The mother went into labor (8 weeks early), the day after Michael and I told "God that we were open to it," and she was in active labor for 4days!!!! We think the Lord must have been waiting on Michael and I, because Joshua was finally born 2 short hours after we said "YES" to God! That poor mom- in hard labor waiting on us...:( We just really wanted to make sure this was the Lord, but once we got our 'GO' we did feel really badly making "her wait" :)
This has truly been the CRAZIEST past 2 weeks & 2 days of our lives as a family! We had no idea God would be giving us a son and Gavyn a brother this year!!! He truly is an Awesome God, who loves to give us the desires of our heart in His timing :) Praise Him!!

Well things just started falling into place when Michael and I told God that we would do this if He provided the open doors. Michael and I didn't want to try and make things happen our way, we just wanted The Father to keep doing it His way!! It was rough at times, but we just leaned on each other for comfort and support, and as a Team we leaned on Jesus together!!! As we would get closer and closer to resting in Him and finding Peace we began to develop such a Deep Love for this baby that was just incredible!!! I never knew you could love an adopted child as much as your blood, but YOU CAN!!! WE DO!!!! In fact, it was really sweet when Joshua went into an emergency surgery on Wed. night; Michael got really emotional and said that he felt as though it was like watching Gavyn go through this. Michael had such an instant connection with this baby from the day he said, "Yes" to God!! This has brought a greater dimension and understand to Christs' love for us the Gentiles!!! We are His adopted children and yet He still Loves us So Much!!!! WOW!! It is so much more deeper now to me since I have gone threw this- I am overwhelmed by how much our Daddy loves us because He chose to, and not because He had too!!!! Thank You Jesus!

Here are our first pictures with him :)

"Blowing Bubbles!!"
Look at all this hair!!! Can you imagine if he would have been carried full term!!! WOW!!!
