Easter 2008

Last year we got Gavyn a chicken for Easter and it was the cutest little thing but it didn’t stay cute for very long.
At that time Gavyn’s favorite word was "baby" so that is what we named this chic
So this year we decided to get him something that would be in the family a little while and that was easier to play with-
Gavyn named his bunny "Cuddles" all by himself-
We had a great Easter with my whole family and Michael’s family in town.  AND it was Joshy’s 1st time at church!!!!!!! Next week he is getting dedicated and I am making him wear his Easter outfit again because it was so darn cute! Here is Joshy’s 1st Sunday and also his 1st real Holiday spent outside the hospital!
Some of Michael’s family :)
Me and my sweet Angel!
Mike’s parents!
Mike’s sister Meghan with the boys!
Auntie Gracia-
After church we all went out to my aunt Debbie’s ranch and did the whole lunch, easter egg hunt, more food, presents, coffee, football games, tractor rides, and more food.... it was a ton of fun and Gavyn did really good this year getting easter eggs. When he was all done he threw his arms up in the air and said, "Ya I got them all!" He really had a blast this year!!
Him sitting with Nana counting his eggs... :P)
Me and my beautiful niece, Emmy who I absolutely adore!! She was walking for Easter everyone!!! Go Em!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My sister, Micah and her new bau, JD- we really like him!
Some of the guys + Em
Joshy and his little cousin, Kalyn who is 8 months old and so cute!!!
Joshy’s other cousin who is almost 2, she was loving on him it was precious!
There are a ton more pictures, but I am out of time- baby screaming :)

Micah's 30th Birthday/ Family time

So last weekend my family had a mini vacation and it was GREAT! It is hard with a family of 15 to take long vacations, but this overnight stay was perfect for us and we are probably going to do it a lot this summer!! It is so good to get away from life and just be with one another!!!!
Us gals took Micah my oldest sister on a limo ride for her 30th birthday on Sunday afternoon. She thought we were just going to spend the day doing pedicures, shopping, dinner and etc. but we had the limo take us out to a beautiful lake house in Kemp Tx. where the rest of the family(the guys and kiddos) met up with us and we all spent the night out there together. I love my family and if we ever got stranded together it would be a life long party i think, we are all so different and yet really enjoy each other. I love being in a big family and wouldn’t trade mine for the world!!!!
The gals minus mom-she was taking the pic.
As soon as we got there we went on the huge deck that was above the water and played games, so much fun!! Look at Kendra’s face :)
Kendra was working on a art project for school and didn’t know I was taking pictures.
Her Piece of Art! She is so talented.!
Brandon’s 1st beer with the guys... too bad it was only "cream soda" Brandon!
Birthday girl!!
The next morning I got up and made everyone Belgium Waffles-mmmmm... so delicious!! So I had to get up so early, but my two year old got up with me and had some hot coco with mommy and her coffee ;)
My little cuddle bug :)
Michael took the boys on a morning walk down to the lake....
Then I joined them...
My little angel :) Such a go with the flow kid- they don’t come much easier!
That was my GREAT weekend last weekend!!!!!

It's Official!!!!!!

IT’S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Current mood: blessed
I feel VERY privileged to announce that Thursday was a special day for me and my family as it marked the day Joshua became an official THALKEN!!!!!

It all started AM on Thursday, March 6th 2008- Michael, Gavyn, Joshua, & and I all had to be at the court house at 7:45 to meet with our attorney. Most of my family was their and Joshua's biological Grandmother was there as well. It was so good to have them all by our side through this. Thank you SO much to those of you who took the time to come out on that cold morning, and stand with Michael and I on this special, VERY SPECIAL day that we will NEVER forget!!!!!!! Especially to those of you that missed work to be there, and to Josh and Marian who brought my little niece who had a 104. temp- I know that wasn't easy, but it meant the WORLD to Michael and I that it was important enough for y'all to be there that you brought her. I got so emotional inside when the judge started asking Emmy if she would be a good cousin to Joshua, because I know she will be, and by being there for him proved that :) Thank you!!! Also, we had a lot of family that couldn't be there in person, but we know you were there in heart, and felt your love, thank you for your support and love!!!!!!!! Michael and I are so blessed to have such a BIG supportive family, we Love you All!!!!!!!

So around 8:15 after we got done meeting with our attorney and going over all the paper work, it was time to see the judge!! As soon as Michael and I approached the bench Gavyn started screaming, "daddy!, mommy!" I think he was a little nervous about what was going on, but the bailiff gave Gavyn, Emmy, & Joshua all stuffed animals to play with- it was so sweet! They started by asking us a bunch of questions and I went 1st, then Michael, then they called up the whole family. Hannah got the whole thing on video tape, it was so special- Thank you Hannah, I have already watched it 3X's!!!!

I was so excited and nervous, it was a very serial moment and the feelings I had were unforgettable. I honestly had looked forward to this moment since the day we knew we wanted to adopt Joshua. I thought that we had already adopted him into our hearts and home, but something about declaring it to God & the Law in front of all those witnesses, it was unexplainable! I honestly didn't expect it to be a big emotional feeling, because I thought I had already felt that rush of emotion when I met Joshua for the 1st time; however, I was wrong. Holding him in my arms while we made our proclamations to God, the law and every witness there, that we would promise to forever be Joshua's Family was such a serial moment that we will never forget!

The court actually went through every family member that was there, calling them by their "appropriate names" aka "Uncle Bambie" :) LOL, and asking them if they too would spoil Joshua with love & support!! It was very special to hear every single one of them reply and promise to do so, except Emmy and Gavyn who were too nervous to reply :)!!

After it was over we took TONS of pictures, and I have attached a few. Then, we all went to La Made lines to celebrate, and that was another fun memory! And for a snow cap it snowed and turned out to be a BEAUTIFUL DAY!!!!!!

And that concluded the special day when Joshua Jake Moody became
Joshua Ryan Thalken OFFICIALLY!!!

I feel so blessed to have been given Joshua to add to our family, and now to say it is official and a forever thing just magnifies how blessed I feel!!!!!!!

Now I will look forward to the day I can get him out in public and show off my beautiful boy!! We have been waiting for RSV season to be over, which isn't really until April, but we can't wait that long.
Since Joshua means, "God is my Salvation," we thought it was appropriate to show case a beautiful example of God's Salvation & Sovereignty, on Easter Sunday!!!!!!!!!
So we will show off our son on that special day to all of our friends and family!
I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I spent 3 months by this little boys side watching him go through more than a mother should ever have to watch her little one go through, being the only mother he knew to give him love and support when he needed me; and 2 months watching him grow in our home and bond with our family. All that did not give me the right to legally be his "mother," but now I have all the right in the world and am SO PROUD to be Joshua Ryan Thalken's Mommy!!!!!! Here is my sweet Angel Baby now 5 months old and finally official!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a picture of us swearing in to tell the truth about how we love this little boy and want to love him and be good parents for the rest of most of his life! :)
This is a picture of our judge- really nice guy! He was so happy and smiley the whole time I thought he must of thought he was going to take Joshua home :)
I couldn't stop smiling the whole time, even in serious parts where they were terminating rights. I was just too happy!
The judge asked Gavyn if he would be a good big brother to Joshua, and 1st Gavyn growled at him then he reached over and gave Joshua a kiss. Not sure why he felt the need to growl at the judge, maybe he was trying to be protective :) At least he showed love towards his brother! LOL!
Here is the proud family with the judge!
Here we are with our attorney and the birth mom's attorney-
Our little Family is finally legal!!!
And here we are with our new little son!!!! So Proud!!!!!!!!!!!!
