These blogs will be dedicated to my kids seeing as though every single one of them will probably be about my kids :) What can I say as a mother of a 3 1/2 yr old, 1 1/2 yr old, and a 7 week old- THEY ARE MY LIFE!!!
I can't think of a better place to start then with the birth story of my daughter!
So, here goes!
Ok.. it goes WAY back to high school when I had this deep desire in me to have 3 kids (2 sons, and a daughter) Needless to say, but I'm going to anyway- GOD KNOWS THE DESIRES OF OUR HEART! We had our 1st son, Gavyn on November 9th, 2005 23 months after Michael and I got hitched! I started to want another baby when Gavyn was about 18 months old and right before Gavyn turned 2, we were given the most precious gift straight from Heaven, our son Joshua was born on October 10th, 2007(Beautiful story that I will have to blog about next)! :)
Six Short months later we were surprised by God again, and found out that we were pregnant! It was a little sooner than I had thought, but none the less we couldn't have been happier!
Since it was such a surprise I decided to let the surprise continue and not find out the gender of our 3rd child.
On January 31st it all began!! Contractions started and they were very regular for 2 WEEKS! That's right I was in pre-labor for two weeks people... couldn't sleep and was so sore from the contractions.. I was exhausted and miserable! On Wed. Feb. 11th at 9pm that evening during a movie the contractions jumped to 7 min. apart and were a little more intense, but I could still ignore them. Around midnight they jumped to about 5 min. apart, but I still assumed it was false labor again, so Michael took my 40 week prego pic and we called it a night! Except I NEVER made it to bed... the contractions got more intense so I decided to take a bath and Michael went to sleep in case we had a long night :) which WE DID!

I finally called my mom a little after midnight to come over & help me time my contractions, and wanted someone there in case we had to leave and the kids were still sleeping. By the time she got their the contractions had jumped in intensity! I was in total denial mode around 1am when they jumped to 4 min apart because I was waiting for the pain, which never really came HONESTLY! My poor mom kept suggesting to go to the hosp.because she had a feeling it was going to be fast, but I kept saying "no mom, this is going to get so much worse and I want to be in the comfort of my home when it does!"

It was TIME...the contractions were so close that I think I had 5 just walking out to the car and I had to stop through all of them and squat or bend over, I remember thinking "Lord, please don't let any of my neighbors walk outside and see me!" Michael drove me with my mom in the front seat and me in the back with my heating pad..what a lifesaver!!! I had the worst back labor ever!!!! I sent updated texts the whole way and told everyone to wait and not come until I get settled in a room and checked by my midwife. And of course, everyone listened and waited... wished they wouldn't have listened to me!!! We arrived at the hospital around 3:30ish and they took their sweet time asking me lots of questions and would not call my midwife!! I was frustrated because they were treating me as if they knew I wasn't really in active labor and wouldn't be having a baby anytime soon! So I played along, although my contractions were not agreeing...I was not going to sit in a uncomfortable triage bed so I asked them to ask my midwife if I could just walk the halls. This is what I LOVED about having a midwife- she told the nurses to let me do whatever I felt like doing and that she would come in at 5 am to check me. At first I started out walking the halls with Michael
after awhile he switched places with my mom, and she (my back savior) walked, and walked with me for an 1 1/2 being total support to me through EVERY contraction by pushing on my back as hard as she could!! With both of my babies they were turned and I had really bad back labor. I couldn't have done it without her- that's for sure!!! I remember telling her, "Mom this is going to be such a long day and I'm already so exhausted and don't know if I can keep good control if I get too exhausted! What should I do?" She prob heard me say that phrase 1 MILLION times!!! That's all I could say in between every contraction :) And she would just say, " Selah your in total control and doing great- keep it up!" So I did just that-kept up and kept walking!!!! Five-O'Clock came and they checked me, I was at a 5cm 100%effaced, so they tried to get me an LDR room because they FINALLY realized, "oh wow this girl really is in labor"! No Rooms, No Midwife, and they couldn't get the IV in, which I think was more painful then having a baby!! I was having a hard time breathing through those contractions because the nurse was so not sensitive and just kept poking and prying... But I made it through and got right back up and kept going like my mom would say!

Breathing through every contraction and 'rubbing my husbands arms' Ha! He kept trying to give me rubbins but for some weird reason it helped me stay calm to have a job and I made that job, 'rubbing my husbands arms' totally aside from preparing to deliver a baby :) LOL! And might I mention that my BF Jennifer was there for the whole thing, and was an awesome support system making me laugh and taking some pictures; not to mention keeping everyone posted!!!

I was still waiting to get in my room and see my midwife before I told people to come up there- :( regret that one for sure!
Six-O'clock rolled around and still no room or no midwife and I was a 6cm and baby was LOW!!
The nurses were not expecting to see me go so fast as remember they didn't think I was in active labor to begin with at 3:30! So, they freaked I think and said we have to get her in a room NOW! They were getting a wheel chair and I said, "No, I'm walking!

And I walked myself down the hall having contractions the along the way." My midwife got there, and I got into the room FINALLY at about 6:20am. I went straight to the restroom and knew I had to get off that toilet or I would have the baby in there :) Seriously!! I felt SO much pressure I didn't know how I was going to make it to the bed, but Michael helped me and I had about 3 more contractions from the toilet to the bed and then my midwife checked me around 6:30ish, and I was an 8cm and baby was about 1in. away so she went ahead and broke my water and told me we were having a baby before 8am.
I immediately wanted to get back out of bed and onto a yoga ball or into a shower, but she told me if I stood up I would be having this baby on the floor. So, I decided to labor on my side, as soon as I made that decision I felt the urge to push.. but it had only been about 3 min and 1 contraction since she checked me at an 8cm, so I was afraid it was too early to push! That's when I remember letting out my first "shriek" during a contraction... hehehe.. I think I said something like, "It's either coming out or I'm pooping!" Now, I have watched the video 4x's and it was a definite "shriek" not a scream, not a grunt a shriek! LOL!! Then, you hear the midwife saying, "It's the baby Selah, it's coming! You can push when you have the urge!" 1 HARD contraction later the head and one arm were out!!!!! "What is it, what is it??!!!! The Midwife screamed and I sat up, all EYES on the PRIZE and I finished my push and out came a BEAUTIFUL BABY GIRL!!!!!! "A SCREAM OF EXCITEMENT FILLED THE ROOM!!!"

She was born at 6:41am on her Due Date!!! 3 short hours from arriving at the hospital.
I immediately grabbed my baby girl and held onto her so tightly and we had SUCH a moment!! For 1 minute the whole world stopped and it was just me and her!! I felt like a piece of Heaven had broken off and fallen into my arms!!! Absolutely, the most amazing thing EVER!!!!!
Then, the Pain finally hit me like a shark attack! I honestly would not describe my labor or my birth as painful, but the aftermath- now that was pain! In fact, that's when I first asked for pain medicine...Michael cut the cord, and long story short- my body would not deliver the placenta on it's own so the midwife had to pull it out!!! OUCH!!!! After she got it out she made me look at it and explained to me that I had what they call, "A Blessed Placenta! Because of the structure of it the Umbilical cord was barely hanging on, which could have been fatal to me & baby. She said that this rarely happens and even in most cases where it does, the cord usually unattached in labor and ends in a emergency c-section where mom or baby or both could die. This was a miracle birth!" Normally they find this out in a sonogram and watch the pregnancy VERY CLOSELY but since I used a midwife and they don't do regular sono's mine was never discovered. However, during this pregnancy I had so much anxiety about having this baby early and was scared for this baby's life, and I can't help but think that maybe I had that feeling because I was being called to interceed over this pregnancy, Thank You Jesus for answering my prayers!!!!

If you asked me today, I would pick NATURAL any day!!! For me there is no better way!!! I LOVED IT!!! So we called the family first to tell them SHE was here! Since no one but my mom, Jennifer, Michael & I made the birth :( Not their fault, it just happened SO fast! In fact, my sis Deborah and Kayla were in the parking garage, and Courtney short behind. They missed it by 5 min :( Then my dad, Kendra, and Brandon got there with the boys.
